Abstract
Depoimento do empresário e bibliófilo José Mindlin sobre Rubens Borba de Moraes, alusivo ao centenário de seu nascimento, ocorrido em janeiro de 1899. Sintetiza a trajetória profissional de Borba de Moraes; destaca suas iniciativas como diretor da Biblioteca Municipal de São Paulo, da Biblioteca das Nações Unidas; identifica-o como introdutor do ensino de Biblioteconomia no Brasil; comenta sua produção intelectual, com destaque para suas bibliografias; recorda passagens de seu envolvimento com o Movimento Modernista e revela o destino da sua coleção de obras raras, uma das mais importantes já constituídas no País, Palavras-Chave: Moraes, Rubens Borba de; bibliofilia; obra rara. Abstract This is the deposition of the entrepreneur and bibliophile José Mindlin concerning Rubens Borba de Moraes, allusive to the centenary of his birth, in January of 1889. It synthesizes Borba de Morae's professional path, emphasizing his initiatives as the Director of Municipal Library of São Paulo and as the Director of the United Nations Library. It identifiles him as the introducer of Bibliotheconomy study in Brazil. It also comments on his intellectual production and his bibliographies; and recalls passages of his modernist movement evolvenment.
