Environmental issues have been widely discussed lately due to changes in population growth, which lead to ecological imbalance, deterioration of ecosystems and scarcity of natural resources. In this context, the need to raise awareness among citizens through environmental education arises. This study aims to evaluate the fate of solid waste and the water and food wastage in the municipality of Cametá, in the state of Pará. Fourth and fifth grade students from a municipal school system took part in this quali-quantitative research by answering a questionnaire. There were disparities in the answers given by the fourth and fifth grade students; however, the data show there is a common reality afoot at the Amazon; there are difficulties that reach particularly the handling of waste, the sewage treatment and the increase in the consumption of industrialized foods in the communities. The environmental education activities served the aim of raising awareness regarding the wastage of food and water, the final fate of waste and the importance of maintaining healthy habits.
