Academic production on education funding: 2000-2010
Abstract
This article analyzes the academic production on education funding. It focuses on the gathering and the study of thesis and dissertations in postgraduate education programs from 2000 to 2010 whose assessment by Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal do Ensino Superior (Capes) was equal or higher than five in the triennium ending in 2010. The goal is to analyze the findings of researchers to build a framework for education funding. The study was documental, based on the analysis of abstracts of thesis and dissertations from Capes’ database. The results indicate that education funding has conquered space in the academic agenda and also that all studies collected reach the conclusion that a greater allocation of resources is necessary to guarantee the right to education. The article concludes that to advance the field of research on education funding, it is imperative for researchers to consider both the progress and the gaps in the academic output on the subject. It is also important to foster new contributions on theoretical and methodological approaches, in order to contemplate aspects still not fully analyzed and discussed in the literature.
